Competition Rules

By participating in the Marathon 7500, a competition organized by the Nature Protection and Tourism (CPNT) Brasov, participants agree to comply with all of the following Rules:


1. Competition description:

It is an outdoor mountain competition;
The trail runs on marked trails in the Bucegi Mountains;
The minimum registration age is 18; For all competitors under 18 on the day of competition (but not younger than 17) a parent/guardian must state that is familiar with the marathon’s rules and agree with the minor child's participation to the competition. Also, the parent/guardian must confirm the same by signing the Registration documents;
Each team should consist of two members.


2. Categories & Classes:

The marathon has 2 classes, each with 3 categories:

Classes: Elita / Hobby

Categories: Women / Men / Mixed


3. Mandatory equipment:

Backpack of any size (participant)
Headband / headwear (participant)
Raincoat (participant)
Long sleeve blouse (participant)
Long pants (participant)
Survival foil blanket (participant)
Phone (team)
Head light (participant)
First aid kit: elastic bandage, sterile bandage, adhesive bandage (team)
Competition map, competition sheet and competition number (will be distributed by the organizers)

4. Competition number must be visible during the competition

5. Timekeeping: times will be converted and recorded to the next whole second (e.g. 15:38:22.4 will be recorded as 15:38:23)

6. The technical meeting will take place on the 20th of July, 2012 at 14:00 for Elite class and on the 20th of July, 2012 at 20:00 for the Hobby Class.

7. The final list of participants will be released on the 20th of July 2012 at 12:00 for the Elite Class and on the 20th of July 2012 at 20:00 for the Hobby Class.


8. Equipment Inspection will be done:

- for the Elite Class on the 20th of July, 2012 at 17:00.
- for the Hobby Class  on the 21st of July, 2012 at 05:00.

9. The race will start:
- on July the 20th , 2012 at 18:00 for the Elite Class
- on July the 21st , 2012 at 06:00 for the Hobby Class.

10. Time limit to complete the race is:
- 40 hours for Elite Class (22nd of July, 2012, 10:00 )
- 26 hours for Hobby (22nd of July, 2012, 08:00 )

11. An intermediate time limit of 26 hours for Elite Class (21st of July, 20:00) is fixed at Omu Cabin (checkpoint 10).
All participants from Hobby Class must reach Omu Cabin (checkpoint 4) within 11 hours (21st of July, at 17:00)
*Teams that exceed this time limit are disqualified and will be redirected to Start/Finish area.


12. The distance between the two teammates should not exceed 50 m during the race.

13. Checkpoints must be visited in ascending order of their numbers.

14. Race stop / retirement:

Organisers have the right to stop a participant in the following cases:
- the participant was injured after the start of the race and his condition no longer allows her/him to continue the race;
- if the intermediate time limit has been exceeded;
- in exceptional cases;

*Any participant who can not or no longer wants to continue racing for any reason, must inform the organizers immediately at checkpoints, on arrival or by calling emergency numbers that are written on the race map and competition sheet.The participant must confirm the withdrawal by signing the competition sheet and also leave it to the nearest checkpoint.


15. Camping:
Every contestant will bring the necessary camping equipment. The organizers will not provide tents, sleeping bags, etc.

14. Penalties:
- Any missing item from the compulsory equipment will result in disqualification
- Missing a checkpoint will result in disqualification
- Breaking the race rules will result in disqualification
- Lack of conduct toward other participants, officials, public, other people will result in disqualification
- Modifying or changing contest numbers will result in disqualification
- Loosing the contest sheet will result in disqualification
- Disregarding the maximum distance between teammates will result in disqualification

*The fee will not be refunded to the disqualified participants.

All participants must present a valid photo ID when registering. All participants must fill out and sign a copy of the competition Rules.
Participation in the competition signifies the agreement and acceptance of the competition Rules.
